So me and the boy have pretty firm ideas on how we want our day to be:
-It must be fun and casual, not too formal and stuffy.
-No church - I'm pretty sure we would both burst into flames if we were to set foot in a church...
-Buffet or spit roast catering for the reception.
-LOTS of alcohol. It is a requirement that all or most of our guests (including the bride and groom!) must get sh*t-faced at the wedding. Which shouldn't be too hard. We do both come from pretty bogan-y families.
All in all we want the day to be filled with lots of fun, laughter, good food and booze. While still retaining a touch of elegance and class. The theme I'm going for is 'Elegant Beach' - and ffs, NO starfish, seashells or frangipanis will be allowed within 10 feet of the wedding.
Easy peasy right?
I totally hear you on the no starfish, seashells or frangipanis. Although I'd like to add phalaenopsis orchids to the list, as they seem to be the new frangipani.
ReplyDeleteAre you looking at somewhere near the city or down south?
Won't be down south (as much as I'd love to!). We both have fairly elderly guests from both sides who wouldn't be able to travel that far, and we do want them at the wedding.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking somewhere along the lines of Scarborough/Cottesloe/Fremantle. I've also had a look at a few places near the river, so I guess we'll see.
PS - Agreed about the phalaenopsis orchids!
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI've been reading your blog and enjoyed it and thought I'd comment. (Hope you don't care!)
Just a short be on me. Wed Jan 14 2011. 80 ppl ish.
I have booked the Floreat SLSC. I'm a bit like you in the beach theme. Only I like shells and NOT flowers, so flowers have taken a hike at my reception and shells are on the tables. lol. Each to their own.
You mentioned wanting it catered spit roast/BBQ style, I'm having Coast to Coast the Golden Roast catering come in. And we are doing our own drinks, and paying for one of the catering employees to be our bar attendant/table-drinks- waiter. We have bought all the drinks alcoholic and non. And its worked out HEAPS HEAPS cheaper! Just watch for the sales. I had a budget of $600 for drinks and have spent ~$320, and the only thing left to get is the light beer.
The cheapest way to get your dress if you find one you want and don't want to pay 1500+ is Milly Bridal in china. I've only read heaps of good things about them, and I'm getting 2 dresses from them as I couldn't decide which one I wanted. Both of which has cost me $720 including shipping and 1 test dress being sent to me.
Hope your still having fun! I've enjoyed it so far:) FROSE
